20 July Post-2015 side event: Why a Rights-Based Continuum of Quality Care Approach is Needed to Improve Women's and Girls' Reproductive Health
Monday, 20 July 2015, 1.00 - 2.30pm
UN Headquarters, Conference Room 7
A light lunch will be served from 1:00pm
How can we ensure the achievement of the sustainable development goals, especially goals 3 and 5 on health and gender equality?
What holistic approaches can we apply to successfully implement the related goals an targets, specifically aiming at women and girls that are most marginalised and living in vulnerable situations?
This event during the 20-31 July post-2015 development agenda negotiations will highlight an approach that calls for the implementation of the SDGs to be context specific and rights based including:
- women's and girls’ reproductive rights to comprehensive health care packages;
- access to information and services in relation to contraception and comprehensive sexuality education;
- access to friendly services;
- their rights beyond their reproductive health.
