The ninth session of the Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was held from 3-5 March 2014 at UNHQ in New York. This session was the first negotiation session, after a stocktaking phase from March 2013 to February 2014.
On 3 and 4 March, Member States discussed the 24 February draft of focus areas produced by the OWG co-chairs as a basis for elaboration of sustainable development goals. On the morning of 5 March, a joint meeting between the OWG and the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing (ICESDF) took place. Videos of these sessions are availablehere. During the afternoon of 5 March, Major Groups and other Stakeholders (MGs) responded to the focus areas document. Statements made by MGs at this session are available here, under the tab “Statements and Presentations.” Additionally, a collation of responses from MGs to the focus areas document is available here, and a summary of these responses is available here.
