Stakeholder Outreach Day in Bali: 6 March deadline

arton4235.pngThe fourth meeting of theHigh Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agendawill be held in Bali, Indonesia across 25-27 March 2013 and will include a full day of outreach events –Stakeholder Outreach Day- organized on 25 March. The purpose of the Stakeholder Outreach Day is to enable substantive interactions of the Panel with civil society, the private sector, academic institutions, youth, parliamentarians and other elected representatives as well as global and regional governance institutions relevant to the dialogue on the post 2015 global development agenda.

TheCSO application process is now opento national, regional and global civil society organizations who want to participate in the outreach events and can be accessed fromwww.infid.org. The deadline for applications is6 March 2013, 4.00 pm Jakarta Time (GMT+7).

The fourth meeting of the High Level Panel will focus on the theme of: “Global Partnership.” The first day of the HLP meeting will be an outreach and consultation day where the Panel of Eminent Persons will take stock of key constituencies’ emerging positions and new evidence, including global CSOs.

The CSOs outreach day will be a one-day town hall meeting involving 150 civil society representatives and members of the HLP, to be held on 25 March 2013. This meeting will be preceded by a CSOs Pre-Consultative Forum on 24 March, with 150 participants (50 International and 100 Indonesian). Civil society participants will have an opportunity to meet among themselves in order to prepare for the engagement with HLP members and agree on strategic positions. CSOs will also use this platform to review outcomes of various civil society engagements that have taken place.

Arrangements for the High Level Panel Meeting in Bali, Indonesia are being jointly coordinated by the Government of Indonesia and the Secretariat of the High Level Panel on the Post 2015 Development Agenda (UN HLP). With regards to the preparations for Stakeholder Outreach Day, the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York will work together with the UN HLP Secretariat to coordinate proceedings.

The two agencies have proposed the following mechanisms to enable an open, inclusive, democratic and transparent process for the selection of participants and coordination of events for Outreach Day:

a) Civil society interaction with the High Level Panel – namely the Civil Society Roundtables and the Stakeholder Town Hall Meeting – will be coordinated through a broad network of national, regional and global organizations that have come together as an ‘Asia Working Group.

b) The focal points of the Asia Working Group who are responsible for communications with the Indonesia Mission, UN HLP Secretariat and civil society at large include: ADA, AMAN, APWLD, Beyond 2015, GCAP, IBON, INFID and Kemitraan. c) The Asia Working Group is responsible for the selection of civil society participants to the HLP Meeting as well as the design and coordination of civil society preparations and events for the Outreach Day. d) Information regarding Stakeholder Outreach Day and other aspects of the Fourth HLP Meeting will be available on:www.post2015hlp.org/outreach.
