New NGLS e-Roundup “Forging Consensus: ECOSOC 2012 Renews Commitment”

arton4079The ECOSOC 2012 Substantive Session concluded on 27 July after almost a full month of intense and varied discussions during its High-level Segment (2-10 July), Coordination Segment (10-12 July), Operational Activities Segment (13-17 July), Humanitarian Affairs Segment (18-20 July), and General Segment (23-27 July).

 

The session resulted in the adoption of a Ministerial Declaration on promoting productive capacity, employment and decent work to eradicate poverty, as well as of 19 draft resolutions and five draft decisions on a wide variety of issues. ThisNGLS e-Roundupseeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the main debates held during the various segments and their outcomes. It also features an interview with Navid Hanif, Director of the Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination, on the future role of ECOSOC and its engagement with civil society.
