New NGLS e-Roundup on the 49th session of the Commission for Social Development: A focus on Poverty Eradication

arton3298NGLS recently produced a new NGLS e-Roundup, highlighting the main discussions at the 49th session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD), which was held in New York from 9-18 February. The session brought together representatives of UN Member States, civil society and other stakeholders to discuss the priority theme of “Poverty Eradication” and to examine poverty’s interrelationship with social integration and full employment and decent work for all. The emerging theme under discussion was “Social Protection,” drawing attention to the capabilities of individuals and families to manage and overcome challenges to their well-being, to reduce vulnerability and to prevent the deterioration of living conditions.

The NGLS e-Roundup also discusses various side-events and includes an interview with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence Against Children.
