AWID launches online discussion forum in the lead up to CSW

arton2131The Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) launched an online discussion forum to explore the achievements and challenges in advancing women rights and gender equality since the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995. The online forum is part of AWID’s year-long efforts to mark the 15th anniversary of the Beijing Conference, including its Platform for Action (BPfA).

The discussion forum builds upon three questions:

What have been the three greatest achievements in advancing women’s rights and gender equality in the 15 years since the Beijing Conference on Women?

What have been the greatest challenges in implementing the Beijing Platform for Action and advancing women’s rights and gender equality in the 15 years since the Beijing Conference?

What does the road ahead hold for our collective struggle to ensure implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and the advancement of women’s rights and gender equality?

Contributions to the discussion forum are welcome from 16 February - 12 March 2010. AWID, along with sisters organizations and partners, will highlight contributed perspectives throughout their participation in the Beijing + 15 review at the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in March 2010
